PostSubject: The Other side of the Mirror   Tue Dec 11, 2012 4:18 am

Mixtli leaves the treehouse after many days of rest, while inside he was happy, content and cheerful despite the recent events but upon leaving all of his previous fears and concerns return to him. He makes a sidegance to the statue in Newports and scowls. He had spent so much of his time involved in its creation but now..it left him feeling empty inside. He shakes the feeling of dread and continues over to his boat which still is empty and may remain so for some time. He enters inside and goes to a back room and places a medium sized item inside so it faces him. He takes a seat and now peers into a mirror at his own reflection.

"I see myself...but what is it that others have seen...I just don't get it..."

For years he had relied on his power, his status to keep others at bay, but with the decreasing communication of his own goddess, it seemed others and mainly those that followed the light to suddenly speak to him as though he were their equal.
And to suddenly care for another...what had really gotten into him? For the first time in his life he willingly disobeyed his goddess whom had wanted him to destroy the very people he had viewed as enemies..or were they? Again he is questioning his actions and it has deeply bothered the druid-mage. His own usual divine powers were mostly gone but save a few blessings. HIs once animal companion was now able to speak common. He had never intended for the cat to be a familiar but it had happened, regardless.

Mixtli continues to stare into the mirror seeming unsure of what to do next, he contemplates his options. He wishes to not worry over Caregoth but it seems he will regardless for the lingering words of the Commander Talash. It wasn't even his fight. He thinks of his current situation which brings him to question his own sanity, a renegade that wishes to form an alliance with the Tower...yeah hes insane alright. And the only reason he ended up accepting the three heads offer was he couldnt bear for Aryn to be punished in his name. Thinking of her brings a brief smile to his face, then anger as he recalls seeing her body laying at the door of her home. The man will pay...as soon as he was found which may be never knowing how those individuals work. But there are some things he can do, at least for now....

Finally standing up he takes the sword and bow that had always remained at his side and places them in a secret compartment he is about to remove the whip around his waist but after a second thought he keeps it as it is. For now he will walk with the staff given to him by Aryn-Ski. He emerges from the boat and looks up at the sky seeing it is now nightfall. He gazes upon the stars and moons and does a doubletake...there are only two.....giant brown balls!....

For years to see all three had given him comfort, to admire the beauty of each one, and now he is left with two...what does it mean...and hells he is now prancing about in white clothing...it is time he spoke to a few of his friends for further advice. Archmage Amenian he knew had been left out of the recent battle and she seemed more tired lately....perhaps a visit to her was in order. The only nagging concern he had was the defenses for Newports...the magic ones weren ot all put up yet and the shrine to one that was also said to now be an antagonist in the recent Caregoth threat...no he must see to it finally ...and make his desires most known....with this thought in mind he heads to the shrine he had not too long ago spent hours upon hours in devotion. He looks one last time to the image he had admire for years and calls upon the innate magic of himself and to the spells that had granted the ice its solid image. He pictures in his mind a new image that had recently answered his call and he knew was most likely watching him. With this image he begins his new project.

He lets loose his most strongest emotions, the true source of his power and as the winds pick up the statue begins to form into that of another familiar figure to and seatraveler or knight...Habbakuk slowly as many hours pass takes form replacing the image of the sea goddess. Of course this is not done without any effect on the demon, storm clouds can be seen above forming and bolts of lightning come down seeming directly aimed for him. He takes the fist one with little effect, the second one brings him to his knees, the last ones finally make Mixtli collapse into unconsciousness. He lays there for what may have seen like several hours himself oblivious to time at this moment. It is the next day as a sailor is passing by suddenly stops to see the new statue and the injured man at its base. Having recognized Mixtli as the one that once took out theship with his late brother he kicks the unconscious man yelling the Fisherking has seen justice to him. He would have continued if not for a set of two very large polar bears growl at him being led by Harri the Yeti bartender. After scaring the sailor away Mixtli is collected by Harri and carried off somewhere hopefully quiet. When he awakens he will recall only the pain and not from the lightning or from the strain of his work but from the words spoken by the grieving sailor. The ice that had been around his heart for so long seems to finally be melting for good.

After flying for several hours Mixtli returns back to the treehouse in Newports. He is nearly tackled by his panther whom is in the mood to play but all he has on his mind is to pack up. Being a druid his possessions had always been far and few and it takes him about ten minutes to locate anything that was actually his and needed. Tlalloc follows behind him asking first in common but a frown from Mixtli the cat reverts to Animal and again inquires to his master's latest mood swing. Responding he explains the latest events and the need to get on foot. The cat pulls his ears back in annoyance at once again the need for more travel.

The cat in a fit of defiance jumps on Mixtli's bag. Sighing Mixtli grabs the staff against the side of the door and heads out of the place he had called home for the past few months. Slinging only the staff on his back carefully so as to not impede his wings he takes flight. Tlalloc runs outside and watches as he flies off and shakes his head. "He'll be back" the cat thinks to himself seeming unconcerned and makes his way inside the Dancing Yeti to go pester Harri for fish. *licking his lips at the thought of fish he makes his way to the counter causing a few sailors to jump out of the way as he begins to haggle with the Yeti once again.

**********************************************************************************************************************************************

Mixtli stops by his boat, pulling a few things out and prepping it for voyage. He also has a few newer things he picked up from one of his old contacts when he used to get offerings for Zeboim: a new map. He had never cared for books save one, an atlas. but his was old and in need of new maps. He spends the next few hours prepping the ship but this time it appears he is planning for a long voyage.

"If she comes around I will hear it, if there is danger I will know it." he says to himself despite the guilt he feels in his plans. The one thing he made care to check upon was the large mirror from the old manor. It possessed no magic, but it held the key for Mixtli. He would be gone for hopefully not too many days . But only time would tell for him, and for those he considers friends.

At last peace and tranquility...or at least for the storm savant it was, he went atop of the ship and manages somehow to keep his footing through the malestrom as it passed. The dolphins that had passed him several hours before had warned of the coming weather and only made animal comments of the winged two-legged psycho as he made his way into the storm. But he had one goal...the eye of the storm, there is where his true talents really came into play. He had done this only one other time in his life and it had led him to solace and his adventures there. He scans the sky through the rain as it pelts his face..still a few more hours. With this assessment he heads back down below to ready his other preparations. Sadly he looks to a blanket left cold and empty, his companion was meant for land not the sea sadly and besides he needed Tlalloc back in Newports to be his eyes and ears.

******************************************************************************************************************************************************

He awakens with a groan as he feels the boat given one final push and then....calmness..the rocking and shifting of his ship has subsided meaning he has made his way into the center of a storm. He recalls learning as a child how the whole surrounding areas will be in turmoil from the chaos of a storm but the eye...all was calm and quiet while chaos surrounded everything else. He goes above to ensure he is where he is needed and scans the area to calculate how long he has before the storm moves onward. Chanting softly Mixtli calls upon a water elemental to aid in keeping the boat within the Eye as long as it could. with this he goes back down below and begins the ritual. Several minutes are spent preparing a circle of protection around him and at the center of his work area is the mirror. the only modifications to it were those to secure into the floor, otherwise it remains a normal reflective surface.

He chants now in his own native tongue, that of demons and he focuses upon the mirror. He wasn't sure if this would work or if it was only his imagination but he needed to see..to be sure. As he continues his chant the reflective surface goes dark as if descended by nightfall and he looks into the mirror at the other side. He barely can believe what it is he sees...and after several moments he regains his control and seals the image away at the back of his mind. He is both happy and sad by the image but it gives him courage to go through with his second spell. As he had learned years ago, scrying could be done wit ha simple mirror. It took the right words, concentration and willpower, as well as the right subject to be successful. With a final sigh he begins his scrying, the subject one he never in all his recent years had thought to look upon but he watches, quiet and impassive as he views all that had taken place and put back into order at the Wayreth Tower. The black robe Kelek had spoken his concerns and after seeing Ski take off he had promised to see her safe regardless of her own desires. With his task set out in his mind he begins his survey of the tower out of the way of anything that may distract him to also include his own personal and confused emotions....

Several hours pass and Mixtli losing both concentration and patience as he makes his assessment of the tower wards. Some of course are obvious, but others naturally are beyond his own ability. And it feels..well different somehow which he can only attribute to the Highmage's sacrifice to bring the wards back up. Despite his frustration he at least feels some comfort in knowing for certain the tower will not be so easily breached again. The magi had learned their lesson and he would also make sure another holding area would be in place outside of the wayreth tower itself...he continues to think of other improvements when he shakes his head in disbelief....why is he now focused on protecting a tower of high sorcery...once a renegade and now simply a "magical beast"....

Well beast or not more than one mage had proven to be a decent person to him...and he had responded in kind. And regardless of his feelings now he was also chin deep in the giant brown balls to keep the areas of magic secure. That is his purpose now. As for decyphering more of the wards he will talk with Solanus and Amenien for further help..or at least advice. While thinking of his next action he feels a moment of bitterness at what has transpired and what it means..it is with this thought he is now aware of the other presence in the room with him. With trpidition as he recalls the familiar aura of the individual he turns around to see her...
Krystah...His mother had had more than just one child with his father and this child was favored by both....

Cold blue eyes look around the room in a critical way and she turns her icey look to him. Smiling coldly in a mocking manner she replies: You have done well...even the Prince of Lies couldn't have been as convincing..little Dark Cloud a White Robe! She claps her hands as she approaches him but stops suddenly collapsing in pain..looking up with fury in her eyes she regards him with some surprise.

It is Mixtli's turn to circle around her. He regards his older sibling with contempt as enjoys a moment of victory. He knew performing his ritual would leave him open and vulnerable. He had taken several weeks to prevent others from harming him. Words of magic had been used in the tattoos upon his body, they were more than mere decorations. Having been born from a family of corrupt and deceitful people both elven and demon it had created a most cautious aura for Mixtli. He finally speaks to her: "You will return home. along with whatever plans you thought to accomplish here Krystah. Tell Mother I send my regards..and Father..well best for me not to anger you more..."

She hisses and struggles under invisible bonds, " You think the ways of magic will keep you safe, there will be a time you will wish for power and more of it. I read your mind, the Highmage is gone. His walls breached by the Black Goat, and this temporary fix will not hold...and it seems you gaurd more fascinating things now...I am here and regardless I will not leave...release me or what you hold dear will be the first to suffer."

He kneels down before his sister almost a mirror image of himself. He studies the contempt and hatred on her pretty face and almost wonders if this was him self at one point. Shaking his head he looks to her sadly. He whispers something in her ear in the language they first learned to speak. She looks at first with humor on her face, followed by anger then disbelief.

Suddenly he grabs her neck in a sudden display of strength. Holding her up she struggles as air is cut off from her windpipe. Calling upon one spell he had worked hard to memorize and had taken the place of the innate death spells he used to favor he casts first a spell of memory blank followed by banishment upon his sister sending her back to her home, as well as having no recollection of what she used to be. Like him she was a sorcereress, gifted by blood in the Arts. But accepting his new role as one of the Order of Solinari he stripped her of those talents forever. He was done playing, and he now scans the room and finally rests upon the mirror one he thought so plain but now recalls being a family heirloom. It seems this may have been partly how the sibling made her way to Mixtli. Sighing he closes the magic upon the mirror forgetting like himself many of his blood were skilled in storms. He has little time to dwell more on this as he feels the boat rocks and shake.

Judging by the rocking he estimates he is now leaving the eye of the storm. Sighing with exhaustion in his very being he heads up to see where he needs to go to head back to land. Caregoth will be his first stop. Having experienced all of this he senses a need to check up on Amenien whom he knows was not present at the battle. Completely uncharacteristic of her he sets the destination in mind and putting aside his tiredness he heads uptop the deck to prep the ship to return. Looking around he thinks to himself the ship has survived the worst storm he has seen. A most fitting name it deserved, The Gale.
